Recommended slide-positions for double horns, changeable to F#/B natural

and E/A.

F/Bb: Main tuning slide according to need, approx. ½ inch for A=440.

 F-tuning slide to the first mark plus individual tuning, approx. ¼ inch.

F#/B natural: Main tuning slide without intermediate piece according to need, i.e. approx. ½ inch.

 Push in all valve-slides.

 

E/A: Intermediate piece and main tuning slide each to the mark plus the individual tuning (i.e. 10mm).

 E-slide till 2nd mark plus individual tuning (i.e. approx. ¼ inch).

A note on tuning. In designing his instruments for maximum playability Engelbert Schmid made a decision to raise the pitch of the Bb horn in the range from second line G to the C below. This necessitated slightly raising the the pitch of the same G on the F horn, so it may be a little higher than you're used to.
