1. Remove the stop arm. This step usually
entails driving the valve out in order to release the stop arm. If
you're not comfortable with this step it's time to visit your
repairman. |
| 2. Install the new stop arm. If necessary, tap
it down tight with your rawhide mallet. Replace and tighten the stop
arm retaining screw. (After endplay, loose screws are the most common
cause of clicking in rotary valves |
| 3. Install the new link using the screw and
washer from step one. The new link should be on the side of the rotor
closest to the main tuning slide. You may have to bend the original
arm slightly to line things up. |
| 4. String as you would any other valve. Remember
to pass the string under the 1st loop. Pull the string as tight
as possible. |
